Cut two dowels or sticks, one three-feet long and one two-feet long. Cross the sticks at right angles with the longer stick being vertical. Have the shorter stick cross the longer about 2/3 of the way up the stick. Glue the sticks where they cross, and wrap string around the joining to hold the sticks together. Cut a slit at the end of each dowel large enough for the string to go in. Tie a loop in the end of the string. Slip the loop into the slit in the top stick.
