You may not have the money to attend the Kentucky Derby, but you don’t need a lot of money to look as good as the ladies do! If you are going to a Steeplechase or Derby party, you can make a hat that will stand out! Shop around for a plain, big-rimmed hat. If you know what you are wearing with it, you can look for a color that works with your outfit or choose a white one for spray painting. If spray painting your hat, pick out a fabric spray paint from a crafts store. Lay hat on newspaper in well-ventilated area. Make sure to stuff newspaper in the head part so no spray paint will get in your hair. Spray nice, even strokes over hat and underneath and let first coat dry for an hour. Apply second coat if needed and let dry 4 hours. To decorate your hat, choose any color feathers, flowers, ribbon or bows.
