The popular commercial hydroponic herb garden promises that anyone can grow a bountiful herb garden in their kitchen, just by flipping on a switch. Unfortunately, commercial models are quite expensive–you would probably save money by buying fresh herbs in the grocery store every time you wanted some. Of course, the flavor of those herbs just is not the same. A great alternative is making your own hydroponic herb garden. This version is a lot less expensive than the commercial model, and is not difficult to make. You can find all the materials in large garden centers and hardware stores. Use the hole saw to drill four to six 2-inch holes in the lid of the plastic container. Place a net pot in one of the holes to verify that it sits snugly, without falling through.
