Better yet, also install a solar water heater — they’re very affordable and will save you so much money they’ll pay themselves off in 2-3 years no matter where you live! Install insulation in the roof, and fix any drafts in the windows or doors. If you’re really into this and the house is old, you can rip out your old windows and install modern double-paned windows that are MUCH better at insulating the house. Bad windows bleed heat like crazy. Install a rubber seal under every door leading out of the house, and keep it in good condition.
