If you have an old pair of jeans with too many holes in the knees to wear, but too much character to part with, make a handbag out of jeans and give your old gear a new lease on life. This bag leaves the top portion of the jeans intact, so the pockets can still be used to store small items. Cut the legs off the pair of jeans completely. Turn the waist section of the jeans inside out. Sew at least two seams all the way along the bottom of this section, where the legs of the jeans used to be. This part of a handbag can take a lot of abuse, so the more seams you sew (and the heavier thread you use) the more durable your bag will be. Cut a strap from one leg of the jeans. Choose an area where the fabric is still strong if possible, and cut a strip a bit longer than you want the strap and at least 5 or 6 inches wide.
