How Do You Make A Hand Painted Cloth Doll?
Hand painted cloth dolls are whimsical, fun and easy to make. All you need are a few supplies from the craft store and a little creativity. This tutorial uses the ‘pancake’ style pattern to create a basic cloth doll body and acrylic paint to add hair, features and clothing. Even children can follow these simple instructions to make your own hand painted cloth doll. Start with a piece of cotton cloth in a medium weight (broadcloth is a good choice). It can be plain or patterned, according to your preference. Using flesh toned fabric will result in a more realistic appearance. The cloth should measure about 10″ by 25″. Fold the piece of cloth in half horizontally. Use a pencil to lightly draw on the outline of a head and torso. It can be similar to human proportions if you like, or you can simply make it a circle attached to a rectangle.
