How do you make a hamster happy without involving treats?
Most likely he does not hate you! And just so you know, hamsters are like humans in that food isn’t the only thing that makes them happy! They also like chew toys, a wheel, maybe a fun house, and most importantly lots of love and attention from you! It sounds like you are trying to get to know your hamster better without any luck, so instead of jumping to the conclusion that he hates you, try to bond with him more. Maybe reach out and let him sniff your hand so he can get to familiarize himself with it and maybe (if he lets you) stroke his back a little, nice and gently. Depending on how long you have had your hamster, he may still be getting used to the new environment, so give it some time and chances are in a few weeks you guys will be best friends!
