How Do You Make A Great Vodka Martini?
While not for everybody, the martini is the one cocktail that will often elicit a double take or a moment of pause from those offered this king of drink. Often, one is enough, two might be trouble, three is … well don’t drink three. I use a small sized shaker as it makes one drink and I don’t have to measure anything. Fill shaker with ice. Often you will see bartenders also fill the glass with ice water to chill it but I’ve found chilling the drink in the shaker to be sufficient. Spear 3 olives on a cocktail pick and set in glass. Pour vodka into shaker. Stop when vodka level is about 1/2″ from the top. Add a nice splash of vermouth to the vodka. Add about a tsp of brine from the olive jar. I don’t measure, just pour but be careful – too much brine will spoil your drink. Place top on shaker and give it a few shakes. It doesn’t need much, you’re not blending Nestles Quick with milk you just want to mix your ingredients and chill your drink a bit more. There is nothing worse then havin
