But you can make this keepsake easily and inexpensively, simply by preserving the graduation invitation and card that you received. The materials you’ll need are available at discount, craft and hobby stores. Finish the wood by sanding and painting, staining or varnishing it, if this has not already been done. Allow it to dry thoroughly. Cut the invitation in half with scissors. Place the two printed pieces of the invitation, along with the graduation card, on the plaque. Experiment with positioning by moving the elements around until you find an arrangement that pleases you. Mark the final location of each piece with bits of masking tape. Remove the paper elements from the plaque. Coat the backs of the paper elements with Mod Podge, using it as a glue to permanently affix them to the plaque.
