How Do You Make A Funny Film?
• Think of episodes in your life or that of your friends that make you and your friends laugh to recall. Consider which elements of these events would make other people laugh as well. Be sure that the jokes are not “inside-jokes” that only you or your friends would understand well. • Write a script. The script should contain funny elements, such as jokes, calls for certain facial expressions or bodily gestures. Consider the types of characters your film will include – you might wish to balance hilarious characters with more taciturn types to highlight the amusing features of each. Study existing comedies to see what works well. • Call your friends over with you while writing the script so that more ideas can be put in for comedy lines. • After writing the script, make your friends/acquaintances read it so that you get some feedback on how funny the movie is. • Make changes accordingly. • Record your film using a handy-cam or any other digital camera. • Preview it.
