How Do You Make A Fraction Number Line?
A number line is a handy tool in the classroom when teaching basic math skills. It has the power to easily illustrate addition and subtraction. Beginners can start by using integers, or whole numbers, that are greater than zero in a number line, but as the math becomes more advanced, negative integers and fractions can be included, too. Note, the process for making a fraction number line requires more precision than an integer number line. But once you know the process, you can experiment with sizes and materials to find one that works best for you. Step 1 Draw a straight line across the paper. The length is not important, but the longer the line, the more labels for the fractions you will be able to fit in. Add a tick mark or a heavy dot to each end of the line. Label the left end “0” and the right end “1.” Step 2 Measure the line from “0” to “1” and write the length down on a scrap piece of paper so you can go back to it if you need to. Measure half that distance and draw a tick mark
