Making your own laminate countertops can be done in an afternoon and drastically change the look of your kitchen. Using a circular saw, cut a sheet of particleboard to the size and shape of the countertop needed. Allow a 1-inch overhang for every edge that doesn’t touch a wall. Cut strips of particleboard for each edge 4 inches wide and the length of the edge. Glue the strips flat to the underside of the particleboard at the edges. Secure with 1 1/4-inch wood screws.
