How Do You Make A Flour Cannon?
Under normal conditions, flour is not that flammable. When it is turned into dust, however, it is downright explosive. The small particles mingle with the air, meaning that each is exposed to oxygen. A spark or flame can ignite all the airborne flour in an area in a quick chain reaction, causing an explosion. A flour cannon takes advantage of this phenomena to make a fireball. As long as you don’t do it near anything flammable, it is perfectly safe and very impressive. Step 1 Get a metal coffee can with a plastic top. You don’t want a screw-on coffee can, but one with a top that can be peeled off. Step 2 Cut a hole in the side of the coffee can the size of the tube, and fit the tube in snugly. The seal should be airtight. If it isn’t, use some epoxy to seal the tube in. Step 3 Fill the coffee can with enough flour to cover the tube by about 1/2 inch. Put a small candle on top of it.
