A bootable USB flash drive contains a complete instance of an operating system. Like a “Live CD,” this allows you to access the operating system from any computer that can boot from a USB device. The difference between a Live CD and a bootable flash drive (other than the media) is that the flash drive can be configured to save your files, whereas a Live CD cannot. Ubuntu Linux users can create a bootable flash drive with the USB Startup Disk creator tool. Open the “USB Startup Disk” creator tool.
