Making a flame that doesn’t burn is a suitable craft for Halloween, or for those times when your kids want to make a fake campfire in the dining room. Using white silk cloth and extra Christmas lights, you can make a fire that won’t burn anyone. Decide how big you want your flames to be. For large Halloween displays, use transparent plastic or garbage bags. For small displays or fake campfires, use white silk. Punch a hole in a cardboard box large enough for the cord of a fan and a string of lights to pass through. Place the fan inside the box so it blows upward. Put a rotating light or multicolored blinking Christmas lights next to the fan so the light is aimed at the center of the box. Cut the center out of the box’s lid.
