Creating a special party can be done simply and economically. When planning a first birthday centerpiece, use your child’s favorite toys, books or stuffed animals to create a masterpiece and then sit back and enjoy the party. Place a tablecloth over your birthday party table. Set the cake plate on a pedestal in the middle of the table. Throw colorful streamers around the base of the cake plate and scatter some on top of the cake plate. Place the cupcakes on top of the streamers on the cake plate and insert a number one birthday candle in the center cupcake. Place a few stuffed animals on the table around the cake plate. Put a first birthday helium balloon on the arm of one of the animals. Place a framed baby picture of the birthday child on the table in front of the cake plate and put his presents around the centerpiece.
