Fur is expensive, however, and many people are offended by the inhumane practices of the fur industry and prefer to wear faux fur. Technological advancements in recent years mean that faux fur is now available in luxurious textures and tones that closely mimic real fur. Making a faux fur collar requires only a few materials and basic sewing skills. Choose a piece of faux fur. Faux fur is available at many fabric stores. Or, find a usable piece of fur at a used clothing store. Cut the fur into a semicircular shape, long enough to travel from the center of your left collarbone, over your shoulders, around your neck and to the center of your right collarbone. Make the collar as thick as you desire, but not so thick that it will be bulky when you wear it. Cut out the backing fabric.
