How Do You Make A Drinking Straw Garland?
Trimming the Christmas tree is an exciting holiday tradition. However, for younger children it can also be a frustrating time as they are repeatedly admonished to be careful of delicate ornaments, not pull on the branches and avoid climbing on Dad’s step stool while he is trying to fix the angel on the top of the tree. A good way to help your young child–and you–enjoy tree trimming to the fullest is to give them a craft project to do on their own that will end up being part of the tree’s decoration upon completion. This type of project needs to be simple enough that they can perform it nearly unsupervised, but important enough to the overall decorative effect that they are willing to put in some time and effort to complete it. A drinking straw garland is this type of project. Once you get your child started, they will happily create yards and yards of this pretty, simple garland that you can later string on the tree, use to decorate wreaths or even frame windows or bedroom doors.
