Many older homes feature doors with clear glass windows in the top half of the door. The clear glass let in sunlight but did not provide the homeowner with privacy. Oftentimes, a sheer curtain was attached to the door, giving the privacy the residents desired while still allowing natural sunlight to shine through. These curtains were attached to the top and bottom of the wood frame to keep the curtains stationary when opening and closing the door. How to Make a Door Curtain Step 1 Measure the size of the glass in the door for length and width. Double the measurement of the width to allow for a gathered effect of the finished curtain. Step 2 Add 2-1/2 inches to the length of the glass measurement. This will allow for a curtain rod pocket at the top and the bottom of the curtain. Step 3 Add another inch to the width.
