How Do You Make A Desk From An Old Door?
An old door makes the perfect impromptu office desk. It is easy and inexpensive to make and will add a bit of country charm to any home office. This project may be adapted for coffee tables, kitchen tables or counter tops. Step 1 Look for an old door that is not warped and will lay flat. The best types of doors for this project are interior doors, which have not been battered by the elements. Select traditional wooden panel doors that are common in older homes. Step 2 Remove all the hardware from the door, including doorknobs, hinges and locks. Step 3 Wash the entire door down with warm soapy water to remove any dust and dirt. Step 4 Purchase two two-drawer filing cabinets and lay the door across the tops of the cabinet, with one end on each cabinet. Step 5 Top the door with a piece of tempered glass cut to size.
