How Do You Make A Custom Sanding Block?

0

It’s difficult sometimes to sand those nooks and crannies in fancy molding. Here’s how the pros make a special block for the job. Lay an 8- to 12-inch-wide sheet of plastic wrap over the face of a piece of scrap molding. Mix a two-part filler (Bondo works great) and press it onto the plastic to fit the molding’s shape. Wrap the edges of the plastic up around the filler and let it set. Remove the filler block when dry. Cut a sheet of sandpaper the same width and a few inches longer than the block. Wrap the ends of the sandpaper around the ends of the block and you now have a custom molding sanding block.
