How Do You Make A Cuffed Christmas Stocking?
Are your stockings hung by the chimney with care? Perhaps you have added a family member this year. Or maybe your stockings are looking a little worn or out of date. You can give your mantle some zing by making new cuffed stockings to coordinate with your home furnishings. Personalize or embellish as much as you want and make them any size you want. Sketch off stocking shape onto paper. You can use an old stocking for a pattern, adding 1/2 inch seam allowance all around except for top. Add 5 inches to top of stocking shape. This will turn down for the cuff. Assess the pattern shape. Do you like it? If so, cut out the stocking pattern. If not, tweak it until you are satisfied. Fold main fabric wrong sides together. Pin pattern to fabric and cut. (Stockings are not symmetrical so make sure you have a front and back that meet toe to toe with right sides showing.)
