How Do You Make A Crab/Crayfish Trap?

1

Seafood is a very hot commodity these days and many people are taking it upon themselves to get their crabs/crayfish as prices skyrocket. Here is how to make an easy, cheap and effective trap to get your own. Take your 5 gallon bucket and remove the handle, as this will get in the way when cutting. Saw off the bucket about half-way down, too shallow and it will not work, too deep and the hole will be difficult to dig. Dig a hole in the sand, the hole must be underwater (yes, i know this is hard but with a little patience it WILL work), also it helps if the hole is near logs or rocks where crabs/crayfish reside. Place your sawn off bucket into your hole, there should be no more than a 1/2 inch of plastic showing above the sand. Put some of the bait of your choice into the bucket and leave. Crabs/crayfish should come to the bait and become trapped once inside due to the slick sides.
