How Do You Make A CPVC Overtone Flute?
• Take a length of CPVC about 50 cm long. • Mark one end as the “Blowing End”. • Drill a series of about 5 holes in a straight line longways down the flute. They should begin 4 and one half inches from the end marked “Blowing end”. They should end 5 and one-eight inches from the end marked “Blowing End”. • Using the holes as a starting point, take the razor knife and cut a channel in the flute three-eighths inch wide. You should now have a channel running longways down the flute that is three-eighths of an inch wide and five-eighths of an inch long. The end of the channel farthest from the blowing end needs to be sharpened to a point on a downward plane. A pennywhistle to look off of can help. • Insert a piece of dowel rod that is one-quarter inch log into the chamber of the flute. • Push it up until it rests one quarter inch from the sharpened edge. • Now, cut a separate section of CPVC that is one inch long. • Using a saw, cut out a three eighths of an inch wide strip out of the CPVC
