A window cornice is a great way to add architectural detail and interest to a room. Not only will a cornice add visual impact, but it will also provide a custom, high-end touch that can turn an ordinary room into a luxurious space. Purchasing custom cornice boxes can be expensive, but you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. Measure the window(s) to which you’d like to add a cornice box, determining height, width and depth for the cornice box you’d like to build. Add a minimum of four inches total to your measurement (two inches on each side) to ensure your cornice box will fit over your curtain rod.
