How Do You Make A Compost Bin With Recycled Shipping Pallets?

0

Shipping Pallets are the perfect material for making your garden compost bin. You can make it for free using recycled shipping pallets. You can find them at home improvement stores, membership shopping centers and other businesses in your area. Ask around. You will be doing them a favor for taking old shipping pallets off of their hands. PICK PALLETS: Choose shipping pallets that have closed sides as well as the open sides that the fork lift fits in. The closed sides will be the side you nail your cross braces to. Decide what size bin you want to make. This will depend on how much space you have, and how ambitious you are. Materials for a small bin are shown. If you want to make a double bin, use 5 pallets and two 2×4’s. For a triple, use 7 pallets and 3 2×4’s. The bin we use is a triple. One bin is the starter pile. The second is the 1/2 finished pile. The third is the finished pile. Move the compost from one bin to the other as it goes through the different stages of decomposition. M
