How Do You Make A Chocolate Italian Cream Cake?
This is a perfectly, delightful chocolate version to an all time classic. This chocolate Italian cream cake is perfect for the holidays. The cake works best as a layer cake. It takes some work to make but well worth the effort. Others will be begging for the recipe! Preheat the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Cream the butter, shortening and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Add in the egg yolks, doing so one at a time. Beat after adding each one. Now mix in the soda, flour and cocoa alternately with the buttermilk. Begin and end these step with the dry ingredients. Be sure to mix it well. Next mix in the vanilla, coconut and pecans. In a separate bowl beat the egg whites until stiff. Once the egg whites are stiff, fold them into the cake batter. Pour the cake batter evenly into 3 greased and floured 8 inch round cake pans. Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for around 25 to 30 minutes. Toothpick will come out of the center clean when the layers are done baking. For best results, comp
