A child’s bed is a place of fantasy as well as rest. Children delight in using their beds as castles, forts or places of refuge. Create a bed canopy for your child to give life to his dreams. A canopy can provide the perfect finishing touch to any bed. They’re easy to make from a few simple materials you may already have around the house. Attach a wall hanger directly above the bed. Drape netting over the top of a hula hoop. Center the netting around the middle of the hoop. Poke six holes in the netting with a pair of scissors. Evenly space the holes. Pull fishing line or other clear, thick thread through the holes in the netting. Knot the line at the end to hold it in place. Staple the fishing line for more stability. Sew or glue satin ribbon around the outside of the hula hoop. Add bows, fabric flowers or additional ribbon, if desired.
