If you are a chicken person then this won’t ruffle your feathers! You can convert one of the old, large satellite dishes into a fine specimen of chick brooder with very little expense and labor. These can be found at salvage yards, junk dealers or maybe you or a friend or neighbor has one out behind the garage. Mine leaned, unused, against the tractor shed for a few years until I decided to raise another batch of chicks. I needed a brooder and voila’ with a little elbow grease and a few bucks for parts I was all set. I’ve been using mine for a few years now with no additional outlay required. This brooder keeps chicks safe from varmint and even snakes since it is of very tight construction. The last batch of chicks I raised in this one is now happily producing eggs.
