Fruit flies are one of the worst pests. Only one has to fly into your house to spawn a swarm over night. Getting rid of them is usually a pain, but by using this quick and easy technique, you can trap the fruit flies in just a few days. This trap is eco-friendly, and made from items you probably already have around the house, making cheap and possibly free to make. Fill the bottom of the bottle with 1/2-3/4″ of wine. Any type of wine will work work, so just use whatever you have around the house. (If you want to use a piece of fruit to help lure the fruit flies in, add that now.) Add a drop of dish washing soap to the wine. The soap breaks the surface tension on the water, so the flies will drown. (The trap will still work without the dish soap.) Roll the piece of paper into a cone, with one large opening opposite a tiny opening. Tape it so it holds the shape. Insert the smaller end of the cone into the bottle.
