How Do You Make A Charcoal Chimney?

Food cooked on a grill always tastes good. Sometimes, however, it can pick up the taste of charcoal lighter fluid. If you don’t want to use chemical starter, you can make a charcoal chimney to start your grill and use paper products to light your fires. Gather your materials. An old three-pound coffee can works great for this project but any large can should work. Since you are going to be working with metal, put on your gloves to protect your hands. Cut both ends out of the metal can. Use the church key to make triangular ventilation holes along the bottom edge of the chimney. Space the holes about one to two inches apart. Drill eight holes about three inches up from the ventilation holes you made in Step 2. Make the holes large enough for the coat hanger wire to pass through. Space the holes evenly around the can. Make a similar-sized hole about 1½ inch from the top edge. Drill another hole ½ inch below that. Turn the can over and repeat. All four holes should line up vertically. Ope
