Step 1 Wrap your wire around the metal rod in order to form the rings until you reach the end of the rod, then snip off the metal. Keep your wire as tight to the rod and each ring as possible to minimize flaws in the size of the rings. Step 2 Remove the rod and cut each coil into its own ring with your wire cutters. Your wire should appear as a tight spring allowing you to cut evenly across each ring. Step 3 Use your needle-nosed pliers to close four rings on a fifth.
