The major benefit of creating bootable CD is in its format design. This unique specification enables streamlined access to data regardless of the geographical location, disk operating system or the program used to create the data. Making an existing CD bootable adds to its value since it can easily cross platforms. Step 1 Copy the contents of the CD onto the computer’s hard disk drive. (Other options include connecting an external CD/DVD drive loaded with the CD to your computer, or burning the data on the CD to an external hard drive and then connecting it to your computer.)
