Ordinarily, leis are made from flowers or multi-colored ribbon. However, a little cellophane and some candy can make a wonderful, delicious gift for almost any occasion. • Gather your materials. See the “Things You’ll Need” section. • Cut about 2 to 3 feet (1 m) of cellophane wrap. • Get ribbon pieces. They should be about 2 to 3 inches (10 cm) long. These can be pre-cut before you begin, or you can cut them as you go along. If you are using plastic ribbon, you may wish to make your pieces a little longer, so you can curl them after they are tied on. • Place a piece of candy inside the cellophane wrap and tie a piece of string around the cellophane, just below the candy. Continue until the lei reaches the length you desire. • Secure the two ends of the lei together with ribbon. Adore your own lei creation.
