If you are making a circular cake, you need a circular piece of cardboard. If you are making a square cake you need a square piece of cardboard. For the purpose of these instructions the cake is a 10″ round cake. We are using an 8″ round piece of cardboard. These are cake boards and can be purchased at Walmart or any other craft store. For this size you will need 30 – 35 leaves. When picking out your flowers count to make sure you have enough leaves before leaving the store. Gather all of the needed items. Clip the flowers off the stems leaving about a 2 inch stem attached to the flower. Once the flowers are removed you will be able to remove the leaves by sliding them off the top of the stem.
