Make your own bread basket warmer from the base of an old or new terracotta pot. Most bread basket warmers are just flat terracotta disks that have been glazed or printed on. The shape of the planter base fits well in the base of a bread basket, and its curved lip radiates warmth to the bread from both the bottom and sides. Step 1 Wash the terracotta plant pot base in hot soapy water and allow it to dry for at least 12 hours. When it is completely dry, the surface will be light colored and appear dusty.
