Every personal computer owner should make and keep a bootable startup disk ready and available in the eventuality that their computer’s system files become corrupted or their hard drive fails. Bootable startup disks in the form of 3 1/2-inch floppy disks are an inexpensive, convenient and traditional storage method, primarily well-suited for older personal computers, though any system with a floppy drive will be able to use a 3 1/2-inch floppy disk as a bootable startup disk.
