How Do You Make A Blue Bird Cocktail?
A Blue Bird cocktail is a classic, gin-based cocktail that was first published in Harry Craddock’s 1930 book, “The Savoy Cocktail Book.” Craddock was the bartender of the Savoy Hotel in London, England, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of cocktails and mixed drinks. This recipe—which makes one drink—is presented much like Craddock’s version, though it has been updated and dressed up just a bit for modern tastes. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice. Add the gin, angostura bitters and orange curacao to the cocktail shaker. Cover the shaker with the palm of your hand or the supplied top and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a chilled martini glass. Garnish the glass with an orange slice and serve immediately.
