If the view around your windows bores you, enliven it with a do-it-yourself project. Here’s a cute way to decorate a small window with beads and nylon string. Mark points 1 inch apart on the furring strip with the pencil 1 inch from the edge. Allow enough space between the first and second holes at each end for the window frame. Drill a hole at each point. Cut a length of fishing line twice the length of the window plus 20 inches. Thread both ends through the second hole and then through the loop formed by the double thread. Pull the line tight and randomly thread on the beads. When you reach the desired length, thread on a large pendant bead, pass the fishing line back through the last few beads and make a knot. Thread the line back up the length of the strand, knotting ends twice more and trim the ends. Repeat the process for each strand, making each one shorter towards the center of the window.
