How do you make a 5 year old understand stranger danger?
5 year olds don’t need to know about stranger danger. Parents need to know about stranger danger and keep an eye on their children. No 5 year old should be apart from their parents/guardians. 90% of children in this world will be fine for their whole lives and never have any trouble with strangers. The other 8% will be hurt by people they know – not strangers. 2% of children will be hurt by a stranger. Keep your child near you and inform her not to go anywhere with people she doesn’t know. Keep it simple when you talk to her.
I have 5 year old twin boys they know not to talk to strangers sometimes we go to the park and another mom is there and we are talking and she will say hi to one of my kids an he will just look at her (because i taught him to never talk to strangers) so i usually have to tell him talk to her and then he does i explained to then that there are some bad people out there and theres no way of knowing whos bad or not so for that reason you never talk to strangers i have even given them examples such as if a guy ask you to come get ice cream with him what do you do they tell me “i tell him no and i run away” if a stranger tries to take you what do you do ” i scream soooo loud help help hes trying to take me and if no one comes i try to run away to another grown up and get help” i also explained to them that there are good people out there but you dont know whos good and bad and you never talk to strangers
