How Do You Make A 3D Writing Desk?
Embossing allows you to make lovely 3D writing on cards. Hand embossing uses a blunt stylus to press words or other designs into heavy paper. The heavy paper is laid over the writing or picture on a 3D writing desk called a light table. The backlighting allows you to see the printed design through the heavy paper. With a plastic storage box and a desk lamp you can make your own light table. Place your large clear plastic storage box on the table or floor. The box should be at least two feet deep and two feet wide. Place your desk lamp in the box to be sure it fits completely. If it sticks up above the top edge of the box you will need a larger box or a smaller lamp. Cut a notch in one edge of the box for the for the lamp cord to pass through. If you do not wish to cut the box, tape a quarter inch layer of cardboard around the top edges of the box at the corners. The box will rest on these corners and the cord can pass under the side.
