How Do You Make A 3D Energy Pyramid?
Energy pyramids show the relationship between living creatures. Similar to food chains, they demonstrate which organisms consume one another as well as how many of each is necessary for a workable ecosystem. Students can use them as visual aids to understand how ecosystems work. You can make a two-dimensional energy pyramid drawn on paper or create a three-dimensional one. The latter type allows students to create several different food chains. These chains may include organisms in different ecosystems and a simple, generic food chain that helps students define each category. Draw a 6-inch square in the middle of your card stock, using a ruler. Make a small mark in the center of each line of the square. Use your ruler to draw a 4-inch line projecting from each center mark. Make a line connecting the tip of each 4-inch line to the corners of the square on either side of it.
