Make a beautiful table runners that are 54 inches long to enhance any table setting. Sew runners with decorative themes for weddings, holidays, birthdays and special events. Runners are about 12 inches wide and are laid down the center of a long table on which centerpieces are placed such as candles or bowels of fruit or flowers. The ends can be straight across or shaped with a point, with or without tassels attached to add an elegant touch. Measure each fabric piece (main fabric and liner fabric) using a measuring tape to 56 inches long. Mark with a marker. The width of the runner is a personal decision, such as 12 inches.
