How Do You Maintain The Car Battery Tray?

0

Batteries can have an extended life with very little maintenance. Brackets can come loose and the battery tray can crack and deteriorate. It is important at every oil change to check battery cables and the battery tray. Turn the engine off. Unfasten the battery cables-disconnect the negative ground wire first and then the positive cable. Examine the battery bracket hardware and remove the battery. Lift the battery out of its tray at a minimum every 6 months. Rub any corrosion off the battery tray with a moist cloth. Inspect the battery tray for cracks if it is plastic. Determine if a coat of acid-free paint will protect the tray. If you paint the tray, allow it to dry completely before the battery is set back in place. Purchase a new battery tray if the damage is extensive. Vinyl trays have a long life and are available at local auto parts stores.
