How do you maintain a good reputation with the Pope in Medieval II: Total War?
Hello James. In Medieval II: Total War, it can be difficult to maintain a good reputation with the Pope. Here are some tips to help you: 1. When a Crusade is announced by the Pope, join it immediately. Divert some of your finances and army to the holy cause, and attempt to conquer the target city. If you are successful, your relationship will improve with the Pope instantaneously. 2. When the Pope requests that you should cease hostilities with another Catholic Nation, listen to him with intent. 3. Building religious structures (such as churches) can be a good way to sustain your friendship with the Pope in power. Once you construct your first Cathedral you gain considerable attention.. 4. When casting your vote in the College of Cardinals for a new Pope, make sure you select him carefully. If a Pope is elected from the Holy Roman Empire for instance, and you are at war with that principality, he will not look favourably upon you. Good Luck.
