How Do You Lubricate The Hood/Trunk Latch In A Mitsubishi Galant?
The Mitsubishi Galant is a compact/mid-sized car. Variations of this car model have been on the road since 1969. If you own a 1969 or newer Mitsubishi Galant, then the manufacturer recommends you lubricate the hood and trunk latches every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. To help you remember when to lubricate your latches, try to do it every time you change your oil. Clean the hood and trunk latches on your Mitsubishi Galant. First, wipe down the outside of the latch with a soft cloth. Next, pick out the debris that has accumulated inside the latch assembly. Finally, swab out the interior of the latch assembly using a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth. Treat the latch for rust damage. If the latch has rust on it, you need to remove the rust before you lubricate it. Remove the rust using sandpaper or a wire brush. Then protect the metal parts on the latch with a coat of WD-40. Spray a coat of lithium grease onto the latch in bursts of 3 seconds. Activate the latch a couple of times to work the grease
