How Do You Lubricate The Hood/Trunk Latch In A Mercury Cougar?
The Mercury Cougar is a full-sized car that has been cruising down the highway for well over 40 years. If you own a 1967 to 2002 Mercury Cougar, lubricate the hood and trunk latches of your car every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Clean the latch before you lubricate it. Cleaning the latch is simple to do. All you do is wipe off the exterior grime, remove large pieces of debris from inside the latch assembly and swab out the interior of the latch using a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth. Use sandpaper to sand away rust spots found on the latch assembly. Once the rust spots are gone, liberally spray the area with WD-40. This prevents any remaining rust from spreading and it will prevent further rust damage from developing. Lubricate your hood and trunk latch on your Mercury Cougar using your spray lithium grease.
