Answer In each case the way to lubricate the reel is based on the construction. However with different models this can vary. IF you kept the instructions there is information on maintaining your reel, including how to lubricate it. In some reels the company will include a recommended lubricant for the reel. If you can not find the directions figure out how to open the Reel… and simply apply the proper lubricant to the gears. Most fishing reel gears look like screws.
