How Do You Lower The Ph In Pool Water?
Monitoring and adjusting pH levels represents an important part of maintaining pool water. The pH should measure between 7.2 to 7.6, which is slightly basic or alkaline. However, pool water often becomes too basic as a result of sweat and chlorine. This causes scales to form, plugs filtration systems, reduces the effectiveness of chlorine and irritates swimmers. Adding small amounts of acid to the pool water lowers the pH. This process is not difficult, but it takes several hours. Turn on the pool pump. Make sure nobody’s in the water. Dip the bucket into the pool so that it is approximately 3/4 filled with pool water. Add granular acid or liquid acid to the bucket of water, according to the instructions on the package. Pour the mixture of water and acid slowly into the deep end of the pool, avoiding contact with pool walls and equipment. Allow the pump to disperse the acid through the pool for four hours. Test the water’s pH, using a pH test kit. If the pH is above 7.6, add more acid
