How Do You Lower A Truck Using U Bolts?
Lowering a truck or a car that has a leaf spring suspension isn’t uncommon and can be done in your own garage in a few hours. To do this, use longer u-bolts and lowering block. A u-bolt is a U-shaped bolt that wraps around the axle and secures the axle to the leaf springs. The lowering blocks go between the leaf spring and the axle, which pushes the axle up higher into the wheel well, effectively lowering the vehicle. Lift up the rear of the vehicle using the jack and support the frame and axle using the jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is secure on the stands before you crawl underneath it. Remove the rear tires using the tire irons. Place them to the side, out of the workspace. Unbolt the factory u-bolts from the rear axle using the 1/2-inch ratchet and sockets. Once they’re off, the axle and leaf springs will be separated. Place the lowering block between the axle and the leaf springs, which moves the axle up higher in the suspension than it was originally, lowering the truck. You
